Montaga looks back on her first months at Move

How does she experience working as a Web Frontend Developer in a mobile first company? And what has she learned since she started in May?

'The more responsibilities you have, the more you learn.'

Soon I will be developing my first project from A to Z.

At Move, I come into contact with many different projects. Many of these projects are for international clients and have a long duration. For example, I am currently working for Dallas Airport. I maintain the website and add new features. And there are quite a few! Among other things, you have to think very carefully about accessibility. Over the last few weeks, I’ve really developed that skill. Soon I will start working on the Cincinnati Airport website. I get to develop this project completely from A to Z and I look forward to being involved in the whole process. It is a big responsibility, but that’s how you learn best. In addition to responsibility, you also get the time and space to deliver the expected quality as a developer. All processes are designed so that our clients, our clients' target groups and (future) colleagues benefit as much as possible from our work in the long term.

Our branch is getting bigger and bigger.

I like working in a place where the focus is on mobile. Especially when you consider that a high percentage of users are generally on their phones. It's important to first learn how to build that, make it responsive and make sure it looks good. From app development, Move is taking on more and more web projects. A great prospect for the Web Frontend Development team.

The shared focus on quality challenges me.

My team consists of six colleagues, four of whom are from Amsterdam and two from Lisbon. We speak weekly to go over the latest developments in the field and to keep each other informed about ongoing projects, in case we need to take over from each other. Because the team is small, you learn quickly. You have more responsibilities and you have to be proactive and resourceful to get things done. At Move, the bar is high. There's a shared focus on quality and the teams work thoroughly and sustainably. This is reflected, for example, in the use of clean code, but also in the way we communicate with each other. The atmosphere is good and we help each other when necessary.
